Tetanus is very common problem in a newborn which causes death of babies within a week of delivery,especially in developing countries..........so its very necessary to practice anti-tetanus measures.
those are.....
1.vaccination of pregnant lady with tetanus toxoid(TT)
1 DOSE booster only if previously immunized (not more than 5 years back)
or
2 DOSES 4weeks apart in after in 4th month of pregnancy.
2. THREE CLEANS....very very important,
1.clean cord i.e do not apply anything on umbilical cord, do not apply anything on cut ends of cord, use clean clamp to hold it,and clean tie.
2.clean hands for doing delivery.
3.clean surface for the delivery.
